Fadal-5 CPU at 250 IPM

Calmotion 527F CPU at 250 IPM
UNRIVALED PERFORMANCE
FASTER THAN THE REST
Your Fadal control technology is becoming obsolete, but why spend thousands of dollars on an upgrade that will only make it slightly faster? With the 527F you’ll go a lot faster with improved accuracy, and vastly superior part finish.
With the 527F, each axis is controlled independently with a high speed DSP (Digital Signal Processor), and communicates with the master host controller via a high speed industrial bus. This parallel processing offloads the main CPU from the computational requirements of each axis, allowing it to execute programs with greater look-ahead capability, resulting in better accuracies at high feed rates.
The comparison images depicted here are closeups looking at one area of a Mercedes test cut performed on a 1997 Fadal 6030 VMC with a –5 CPU. Both parts were cut with the exact same machine, program, AC servo amplifiers and motors. Only the control cards from the legacy Fadal CNC 88HS were changed out with the Calmotion 527F cards.
The replacement of the Fadal –5 CPU and axis cards with the Calmotion 527F controller boards was completed in less than 25 minutes.
INSTALLS IN MINUTES / NO LEARNING CURVE
100% COMPATIBLE WITH MACHINES THAT HAVE A DATC, PROBES, PALLET CHANGER,SERVO COOLANT, 5 AXIS TABLES, AND MORE.

The 527F control is a full-featured digital control engineered with easy-to-use command line prompts for quick set-up and flexible operation. The form factor of the hardware is designed to replace the legacy CNC 88 family used in Fadal Maching Centers* and is a drop in retrofit control with next to no installation required.
The 527F is a continuous 5 axis capable CNC with a familiar look and feel that allows operators to use the 527F without training so that a machine can be put into service immediately. The existing keyboard, jog wheel and selector switches are used which allows operators to use the same procedure to set up jobs as well as run/edit programs.
The 527F is compatible will all factory pendant designs. A VGA or HDMI monitor may be required on versions without one.
UPGRADE YOUR PENDANT INTERFACE
OPTIONAL PENDANT FOR HS & MP MODELS
Standard Calmotion Control
The 527F uses the standard 88, 88HS and MP pendant. The wiring and harness assemblies are left undisturbed. Only the monitor needs to be replaced if not VGA-compatible.

Optional Pendant Face for HS and MP machines
An optional pendant face that fits into the existing pendant enclosure is available for machines with the 88HS (shown here), or MP variants. It offers a variety of quick keys to improve operator efficiency during job set-up, program editing, and memory management.

USE A PC AS A MONITOR (STD)
As standard, the 527F now includes PC graphics hardware and software that connects to the pendant monitor for viewing control screens. This is not a PC control – it's simply replacing a graphics card with a PC to view 527F screens via Calmotion software. The PC is configured to auto boot to 527F screens on power up. 527F screens can be minimized, maximized and positioned on the monitor like any other PC software.
The PC_USB video kit includes a USB dongle that connects to a supplied NUC form factor computer mounted inside the pendant. 527F screen information streams via USB and is displayed on the pendant monitor. A metal tray that mounts underneath the pendant to support a customer supplied mouse and keyboard is also provided.

Mounting the metal tray and adding a keyboard and mouse are not required for CNC operation. This is an additional feature for customers who wish to take advantage of a PC at the machine.

Having a computer at the machine brings a host of possibilities, such as CAD/CAM programming at the machine, remote CNC viewing via TeamViewer/Google remote desktop, ability to check email, pulling files from anywhere on the network and placing them into the 527F memory... and is a nice way to perform program simulation using the software of your choice.

AXIS CONTROL
Each axis of the 527F is controlled independently with a 32 bit DSP (Digital Signal Processor) and communicates with the master host controller via a high speed industrial bus. Eliminating the backplane bottleneck of the legacy CNC88 allows for faster communication than was previously possible with an S100 bus.
